Royal originally opened in 1929 as the largest and most modern cinema of its time. Even then it stood for elegance, social life, and cultural events. Today it builds on that legacy and offers a unique space for concerts, theatre, film screenings, cabaret, exhibitions, and special events.
When you enter Royal, it feels as if time stands still for a moment. Original stained glass, historic stucco, a marble staircase, wood carvings, and iconic balconies have been preserved, creating an atmosphere of old Prague that cannot be replicated.
Every detail recalls the golden era of the First Republic — a time of elegance, culture, and social life.
The interior was carefully restored under Czech architect Renata Slámková, who combined Art Nouveau style with the comfort of the 21st century. Royal has kept its historic character while offering the amenities and technical infrastructure of a contemporary cultural venue.
